Troy R. Tanner graduated from Los Altos High School in 1982, where he was a standout in football and volleyball and earned a scholarship to the college of his dreams, Pepperdine University. Tanner competed at the highest levels volleyball for the next 17 years. Along the way, he became one of the world’s elite indoor and outdoor volleyball players. His teams won NCAA Championships, European and Asian Championships, and an Olympic gold medal in 1988.

A few of his individual honors include being named a three-time All-American, “Rookie of the Year” on the AVP professional beach volleyball tour, and the “Worlds Best Receiver” at the 1989 World Cup.

His coaching career began in Provo, Utah, at Brigham Young University. While earning a master’s degree in mass communications, Tanner helped coach the Cougars to two NCAA Championships.

In 2008, Tanner was the assistant coach for the men’s volleyball team during the Beijing Summer Olympics.
