Steven E. Lowe (b. 1949) graduated from BYU in 1971 with a degree in Communications.

In 2008, Lowe directed the television version of Berlin, an original musical written by BYU alumnus Erik L. Orton. The production was taped and edited for BYU Broadcasting.

Lowe is in his 26th year of service at BYU. It is divided into two different periods of employment. He was, also, Director of Technical Operations and Production Services at KSL Television for nearly nine years, as well as, an Account Executive for Visual Technologies (a local supplier of professional video equipment.)

Over the years many of his productions have been recognized for their excellence. Among them Abinadi, Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 2 in C minor "Resurrection," Beautiful Singing, and Wagner Takes the 'A' Train each received Bronze Telly Awards. Since 1978, the Telly mission has been to strengthen the visual arts community by inspiring, promoting, and supporting creativity. Last year's Annual Telly Awards received over 13,000 entries from all 50 states and 5 continents.

Lowe retired with 23 years in the US Air Force Reserve at the rank of Colonel. He was an experienced logistical planner and was used by many USAF Reserve units to put them through Operational Readiness Exercises. He held many different position within Support/Resources specialties, including Administrative, Supply, Transportation, Personnel and Commander of Combat Support. He ended his military career as Deputy Commander for Resources, 419th Tactical Fighter Wing, Hill AFB, UT. As an active member of the Reserve Officers Association, he chaired the committee which planned and hosted the ROA National Convention held in Salt Lake City spring of 2004.

He was married in 1975 to the former Patricia Jean Harston... also an alumnus of BYU's College of Fine Arts and Communications, as well as a former employee of KBYU-TV. (A note of interest, Pat was the first female news anchor in the state of Utah. She co-anchored Newsroom 11 before any of the local commercial station had female anchors.) They are the parents of four children... Angela, Emily, Alison and Jeremy.
