Education

Woodward graduated from Newbury Park High School, in Newbury Park, California in 1990. Following high school he enrolled at Ricks College, graduating with an associate’s degree in 1995. After working for seven years in the animation and live-action film industry in Los Angeles, Woodward returned to school in 2003, where he completed his degree in Illustration at BYU. In 2006 he received a MFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California.

Career

As an artist, Woodward has worked as an animator, storyboard artist, concept designer, EFX animator and animation artist for Warner Bros. Animation, Walt Disney Studios, Sony Pictures, Cartoon Network etc., on films such as Space Jam, The Iron Giant, Osmosis Jones, Spider-man 2, Spider-man 3, Where the Wild Things Are and many more. He also created his own comic book series, The Invincible Ed, published by Dark Horse Comics.

Woodward has directed three short films, The Loch, Aliens and The Turtle and The Shark, which was named the Best Animated Film at the 2008 SoCal Independent Film Festival.

He has taught at both the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and BYU where he is currently an animation professor.
