Robert Henry Hinckley

"Robert Henry Hinckley was born in Fillmore, Utah on June 8, 1891, son of Edwin Smith and Adeline Hinckley. He married Abrelia Seeley of Mt. Pleasant, Utah, on June 23, 1915. They are the parents of four children: Robert, Jr., Mrs. Preston P. Nibley, John S., and Paul R.
"Mr. Hinckley attended the Brigham Young Laboratory School. After completing a mission in Germany from 1910 to 1913, he entered Brigham Young University, graduating in 1916.
"Indicative of his accomplishments in business, outstanding among which are his founding of the American Broadcasting Company and service in American Broadcasting-Paramount Theatres, Inc., are the following position which he held: director of Robert H. Hinckley, Inc., First Security Corporation, and American Paper and Supply Company; vice-president and assistant to the president of the Sperry Corporation; vice-president and director of American Broadcasting Company; member of Board of Directors and Executive Committee of American Broadcasting-Paramount Theatres, Inc; trustee, Edward John Noble Foundation; and member, Board of directors, Financial Industrial fund, Inc., and Financial Industrial Income Fund, Inc.
"Mr. Hinckley served the government with distinction, holding such important positions as assistant administrator of the WPA; chairman of the Civil Aeronautics Authority, and Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Air. Among the accomplishments of the Civil Aeronautics Authority during his period of service was an outstanding safety record (Special Program, 12)."
Broadcast Services of BYU are housed in the Robert H. Hinckley Radio and Television Studio, located on the second and third levels of the Harris Fine Arts Center.
