Maurine Benson Ozment

Maurine Benson Ozment graduated from BYU in 1955 with a degree in Music. She later completed a MED in Elementary Education at USU, with a specialty in music - resulting in a book for elementary school music classes and choruses. The book, The Elementary Songbag USA, features American folksongs, with original accompaniments for Orff instruments, autoharps, guitars, ukuleles and recorders.

While at BYU, Ozment was an accompanist for the Opera Workshop and the [[category:School of Music|Music Department].

Later, she composed several songs for the LDS Church Primary Children's Songbook, including The Hello Song and Feliz Cumpleanos.

Ozment served on music faculties at several universities outside of Utah, as piano instructor and staff accompanist. She has performed on many concerts stages througohut the west and southeast areas of the USA.

In 2009, along with fellow alumna Marilyn Arnold, and daughter Lisa Farr, Ozment published Sacred Hymns of the Book of Mormon, a collection of original hymns based upon The Book of Mormon. Ozment composed the music for the hymns.

Ozment is semi-retired and continues to perform, compose and teach in southern Utah.
