Lorette Bayle

Lorette Bayle graduated from BYU in 1987 with a degree in Communications and went on to complete an MFA in film and theater directing at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) in 1999.
Bayle is an award-wining documentary and narrative filmmaker. Her narrative film Mariela's Kitchen won a Silver Award for Best Dramatic Short at the Houston International Film Festival, was a finalist in the NextFrame Festival, screened in festivals internationally and domestically, and aired on Fine Cut for KCET (PBS, Los Angeles) in 2001.
Bayle produced and directed a number of in-studio programs for KUED (PBS, Salt Lake City), winning a Silver Award for Brahms at 100 in 1997. She has traveled to three continents to produce and shoot documentaries, some of which include Haite, Land of Hope, The Enchanted Gardens of England, and A Gift to the City. She has worked for the Sundance Institute, Independent Feature Project/LA, and American Zoetrope.
In 2009, Bayle finished a short film based on the beloved children's book, The Bake Shop Ghost, starring Kathryn Joosten (Emmy winner for West Wing and Desperate Housewives) and Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Academy Award nominee for Secret and Lies). The film screened in competitions at the Seattle International Film Festival, Short Shorts in Tokyo and the Palm Springs International Shorts Fest. The piece is also scheduled to screen in the Rhode Island Film Festival, Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival and in Milan, Italy.
