Laura Lillian Cantera Hintze graduated from BYU in 2003 with a degree in Communications and in 2007 from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University.

In 2003, she was awarded an Oscarson Discovery Grant which enabled her to travel to New York City and intern with John Stossel of ABC's 20/20.

After her internship in New York, Laura worked as a technical writer for Navitaire, an airline software company, during which time she decided to pursue a legal education. After graduating from law school, Laura was a law clerk for Judge James R. Taylor of the Fourth District Court of Utah and then worked as a prosecuting attorney for Utah County.

In 2009, Laura married Jonathan Hintze and later that year they moved to St. Louis for Jonathan to begin medical school. They had their first child, Hannah Grace, in January 2010, and Laura now enjoys being a stay-at-home mom.
