Lane Wright
From College of Fine Arts and Communications
Lane Wright graduated from BYU in 2005 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
Wright worked as a full-time reporter for WRIC TV8 in Richmond, VA, a position he started immediately following the completion of his final college course in 2005.
In July of 2008, he accepted a job to help start up the local news operations for the CW West Palm in West Palm Beach, FL. For nearly 20 years prior, to August 2008, The CW West Palm, also known as WTVX did not carry local news programming.
Wright became the lead reporter for the 10:00 PM newscast, (and later the 6:30 newscast when the station reworked schedules) reporting on stories from Broward and Palm Beach Counties as well as the Treasure Coast. In addition to his role as reporter, he also was the newsroom manager. He led a small team of video journalists and reporters, making assignments and coordinating local content with the producer, anchors and the technical director, all of whom were based in Salt Lake City at the CW's sister station KUTV.
In June of 2009, Nexstar Broadcasting group purchased managing rights to the station and closed down the newsroom. Wright was laid off, but three months later found employment working for a subsidiary of a public consulting firm. His focus turned from Reporting News to working in the realm of public relations, with a special focus on new media.
