Kevin Olson

Kevin R. Olson received a bachelor's degree in Music Composition in 1994 and a master's degree in Music Composition in 1996, both from Brigham Young University. He earned his doctorate degree at National-Lewis University in Chicago.

Olson joined the faculty of the Utah State University Department of Music on August 1, 2010, when he was named director of the Youth Conservatory. In addition to his responsibilities as director, Olson will also teach piano literature, pedagogy and accompanying courses.

Prior to accepting this position at Utah State, Olson taught at Elmhurst College for 13 years. In addition to his experience as a professor, Olson is a prominent composer and has published numerous books on how to compose, improvise and play jazz.
