Early Life and Career
Kendra Lowe plays piano, violin, banjo, organ and is a graduate of BYU, with a degree in media music studies. She began to play the violin before her third birthday, performing with the Utah Symphony at age 6, at which time she began playing the piano piano. She has been a prizewinner in piano competitions, won 1st, 2nd and 3rd in International Ballroom Dance Competitions, and received blue ribbons at the Utah State Fair for sewing.
Lowe has danced on the BYU Youth Ballroom Team which won the title of United States Youth Latin American / Rhythm Formation Champions in 1993.
Other honors include National Honor Society, orchestra concertmaster, jazz band pianist, A Cappella, and recognition in Who's Who Among American High School Students. She was named the #1 High School Jazz Pianist in 1997 at the BYU Jazz Festival. She played 5-string banjo for the BYU Folk Ensemble, and as the plectrum (4-string) banjo player for the BYU Dixieland Jazz Band, she performed in the prestigious Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. in 1998.
She teaches privately and is in constant demand as a studio musician and accompanist for competitions, university students, choral, civic, theatre and church groups, and theatre companies, and has given nine seasons of community service for outdoor summer musicals.
Lowe spent much of 2009 on the road, completing three tours with pop music sensation David Archuleta, playing keyboard and violin. Through touring with Archuleta, Lowe has now performed in all 50 states.
Personal Interests
In 2006, she completed a service project for two Nicaraguan orphanages, providing immunizations, food, and boxes of clothing, blankets, and supplies.
Lowe loves to plant flowers and cook and would like to score music for film. She performs with her family in Branson, Missouri.
