J. Morris Richards
From College of Fine Arts and Communications
In 1967 J. Morris Richards was hired by President Ernest Wilkinson as the advisor for the campus newspaper, yearbook, and directory. After serving in that capacity for six months, Richards was named as the Communications Department chair. He served in that position until 1971.
During his time as chair, Richards improved the department by reducing faculty overload, creating relationships with community newspapers, establishing internships, and improving relations with other departments (Pratte, 25).
