Eric Hochhalter was part of BYU's first class to graduate with an Animation BFA. While at BYU, Hochhalter worked on Turtles and Petshop which won Student Emmys and a Student Academy Award. Additionally, Hochhalter’s film Der Ostwind was honored with an Official Selection at the Sundance Film Festival.

Inspired by the Animation Program's meteoric rise to national prominence and recognition, Hochhalter formed the BYU Animation Alumni affinity chapter shortly after his graduation. After early struggles to recruit leadership participants, he went forward on his own with designing and building an online community website for the organization. A year and a half after going online, the group attracts high percentages of animation students into its membership and activities.

Eric lives in Austin, Texas with his wife Johannah. He works creating computer graphics and animations for independent films, as well as in multimedia web development.
