Emma Penrod

Emma L. Penrod studies Communications at Brigham Young University. Emma currently writes for The Universe, the university's student-run newspaper. In 2012 she was the recipient of the Scripps League/N. Laverl Christensen Scholarship from the Department of Communications.
In 2011 The Universe and its writers were judged by the Utah Headliners Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. Among competitors such as The Daily Herald and The Spectrum, The Universe was awarded third place for best paper in the Division B category and Emma's story, "Polar bear study," received first place for Medical/Science Reporting.
