Edward L. Carter
From College of Fine Arts and Communications
Edward Carter is an Assistant Professor. He received his B.A. in journalism from BYU and his master's degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. After completing law school at the the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU, he returned to BYU as a faculty member in the Communications Department.
Carter has worked for newspapers in Utah, Illinois and Washington, D.C and served as a law clerk for Judge Ruggero J. Aldisert of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and has an interest for communication and media law.
In Winter 2008, Carter's article, which was co-written by James C. Phillips, "Justices Treat Newspapers Differently in Oral Argument" was published in the Newspaper Research Journal.
In 2008, Carter attended the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication annual convention and was one of four panelists on a panel co-sponsored by the Law and Policy Division and the Ethics Division.
