Doug B. Thomas graduated from Brigham Young University in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in graphic design

In May 2006 Doug was part of a project funded by the Laycock Center for Creative Collaboration in the Arts. The project took Graphic Design students to the 16th Annual AGIdeas Conference in Melbourne, Australia. BYU was the only non-professional presenter but still represented themselves well under project directors Adrian Pulfer and Linda Reynolds.

In 2015, Thomas was the lead director for BYU Magazine's article "Around the World in Sixteen Pages" which was featured in the January/February edition of Communication Arts in Typography Annual 5.
