Colleen N. West

Colleen N. West is an Associate Professor in the World Dance Division of the Dance Department at BYU.West graduated from BYU with a Professional Dance in 1983. Two years later she completed her masters in dance, also at BYU. Her thesis was titled, “A Study of Selected Staged Ukrainian Folk Dances.”
In 1998, West was presented with the Teaching Excellence Award from the College of Health and Human Performance. In 2005 she received that Presidential Citation Award from the National Dance Association for outstanding service to the Association and to the field of dance.
West currently serves as a World Dance Division Administrator, the Tap Dance Program Coordinator, the Folk Dance Program Coordinator, and as an advisor to the BA in Dance and Dance Composite Majors, as well as to the BYU Tap Dance Club. She is also the director of BYU’s Annual Rhythm Tap Dance Workshop.
