Christopher Young
From College of Fine Arts and Communications
Christopher Young was born in 1963 and raised in Utah, where he developed an early love for drawing in the outdoors. He completed a BFA from Brigham Young University in 1986.
Young currently works in his Orem, Utah studio and is supported by his wife and four children.
Concerning his own artwork, the artist explains; ‘I don’t believe an artist creates beauty, but finds it and presents it. The best of these efforts are affirming and connecting. In my own work, I attempt to capture the slivers of transcendence in the world around me–that moment of truth and beauty when all seems to be made clearer in a wordless revelation.’
In 2009, Young was part of a panel that discussed the body and its religious, aesthetic and philosophical significance. The panel was hosted as part of BYU's symposium, "Embodied Believing: Faith in Motion."
