Campbell Gray

Campbell Gray served as director of the Museum of Art at Brigham Young University for fourteen years, from 1996 to 2010. While the museum director at BYU, Gray was the keynote speaker at one of the campus' weekly forums. He is currently the director of the University of Queensland Art Museum in Brisbane, Australia.

Gray was born in Sydney, Australia, and he served a mission in New Zealand. He received his Bachelor of Education in art from the City Art Institute, Sydney College of Advanced Education; his Master of Letters in philosophy from the University of New England; and his Doctor of Philosophy in history of art, from the University of Sussex in England.

His early career focused on art museum education and directorship, including the inaugural director of a government sponsored art museum within the Sydney, Australia, metropolitan area. He subsequently turned to academia and became co-chair of the Department of Visual Arts and later Coordinator of the graduate research department of the College of Visual and Performing Arts, of the University of Western Sydney, Australia.

Gray and his wife, Jeanette, have five daughters and three grandsons.
