Bryan Beus
From College of Fine Arts and Communications
Bryan Beus, an illustration student and recipient of a 2007 Don and Shirley Oscarson Grant, spent four months during the summer of 2007, working with well-known business representative, Richard Soloman in New York City.
The internship, which last from May 12, 2007 to August 30, 2007, provided Beus with opportunities to work with clients, advertising, and competition within the illustration market. He was also given opportunities to study with the artists represented by Solomon, and prepare to show his work in a New York gallery related to The Society of Illustrators.
Through the internship, Soloman became a mentor, sculpting Beus views as to how to market his work to art directors and how to build a stronger portfolio.
Of his experiences Beus says, “Overall, the internship was a complete success. I gained many friends, changed my way of thinking for the better, and am on my way to being an established artist.”
