When Brandon Mull arrived at BYU as a freshman, he discovered a new hobby: writing. He had enjoyed writing in high school, and was often dreaming up stories, but he had never put the pen to paper. That quickly changed when Mull decided he wanted to write a book.

While at BYU, Mull participated in Divine Comedy, took courses in creative writing, and majored in Public Relations with a minor in English.

Mull graduated with a BA in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations in December, 2000.

Following graduation, he took a year off from school and work to write his first book. Since then, he has published three books, the first two volumes of the Fablehaven series, as well as The Candy Shop War, and is working on the third volume of Fablehaven.

Since publication, his books have gained popularity and have appeared on the New York Times’ children’s best-seller list (Clark).
