Ariel Bybee
From College of Fine Arts and Communications
Ariel Bybee graduated from the School of Music at BYU in 1965 with a degree in Music.
While at BYU, Bybee was mentored by Maughn McMurdy, Brandt Curtis, Don Earl, and Charles Metten, all of whom encouraged her to develop her unique voice and stage presence.
Following graduation, Bybee taught junior high school music for a few years, refining her stage presence before joining the Metropolitan Opera. She has played 18 seasons as a mezzo soprano with the Met. Bybee is currently the artist in residence at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln School of Music.
