April Makgoeng

April Chabries Makgoeng was an Assistant Professor in the Theatre and Media Arts Department at Brigham Young University. While teaching at BYU, she served as the Assistant Dean of Technology for the College of Fine Arts and Communications from 2001 to 2003. Also while at BYU, she produced award-winning documentaries for local museums and PBS, and managed the weekly film lecture series.

Makgoeng graduated from BYU in 1991 with a bachelor's degree in English. She received her master's degree in media arts from Utah State University, and is currently pursuing a PhD in cultural studies and religion with an emphasis in media arts at Claremont Graduate University.

Previous to her teaching position at BYU, Makgoeng taught graphic design courses for the Art Department at Utah State University, and also taught an introduction to film workshop for Pacific Islanders in Communications. She is currently the Director of Talent Management for National Geographic Society.
