Alyssa Morris
From College of Fine Arts and Communications
Alyssa Morris graduated from BYU in 2007 with a degree in Music Performance. She is an oboist. In 2007 she composed Four Personalities, which was reviewed by the International Double Reed Society in their journal. According to the review,
She composed this fun, entertaining work basing the four movements on the colors used by the Hartman Personality Test, each color connoting a personality type. "Yellow" is a fast swing in C minor. "White" is a moderate, jazzy 5/4, "peaceful but indecisive." "Blue" gives us a free, lyrical and intense slow song. Finally, we have "Red," a driven, fast and adventuresome movement in E minor. This movement goes especially high, up to high G a few times. Four Personalities is a lot of fun for oboist, pianist and audience alike. Highly recommended for college and professional recitals.
