Alexis Flake Arias graduated from Brigham Young University in 2013 in with a degree in broadcast journalism.
2013 Convocation Address

In 2012, Arias received the Kappa Tua Alpha Top Scholar Award and the Reed Irvine Accuracy in Media Internship. Arias was also selected as a finalist of the Donald Sloan Speech Showcase, a biannual competition at BYU. She was included on the summer 2012 Dean's List, the fall 2012 Dean's List, the winter 2011 Dean's List, and the summer 2011 Dean's List.

In 2013, Arias received numerous news reporting awards from the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) and from the Alliance for Women in Media. She was named the Outstanding Reporter/Correspondent by the Alliance and was awarded a prestigious Gracie Award for her efforts. Her SPJ awards included the First Place award, in both General News and Feature Television Reporting.

Also in 2013, Arias was invited to present a speech at the convocation of the College of Fine Arts and Communications. She addressed the graduates on "Today's Crisis in Journalism."
